See it running on your own vessels.
A thirty-minute walkthrough of the live platform, against your fleet's questions rather than a prepared script — how a month-end closes, how an owner's statement is produced, what a crew change costs. Not a slide deck.
We will sign your confidentiality agreement beforehand if you prefer, so the discussion can cover your actual operation rather than generalities.
Who we are
Built from the deck, not the boardroom.
Most maritime software is written by software companies who have never sailed. They produce systems that are technically competent and operationally wrong — forms that ask for data nobody has, workflows that assume shore-speed internet, reports that no superintendent would ever put in front of an owner.
Blue Horizon Solutions exists because the founder kept meeting that problem from the other side of it. Every screen in our platform was specified by someone who has stood on the bridge during a Port State Control inspection, closed out a deficiency list with a Master, and answered to an owner for a fleet's costs.
That shows up in small decisions that matter: our inspection apps work offline because ship internet fails; our accounting module posts on the document date because that is how the books actually reconcile; our crew module understands that a wage scale is set by a collective bargaining agreement, not by a text field.
Capt. Saravanan Ramesh
A Master Mariner with command experience and years ashore in ship management, Capt. Saravanan founded Blue Horizon Solutions to close the gap between how ships are actually managed and what management software assumes.
He writes the specification for every product, tests each one against real vessel operations, and remains the person customers speak to. The inspection libraries behind our PSC and RightShip products were built from real Port State Control deficiency data across MOU regions — not bought in as a generic checklist.
What we build
Four products, one operating picture.
Each product stands on its own and can be bought on its own. Together they cover the working life of a managed vessel — the office systems that run it, the inspections it must pass, and the people who crew it.
BHS Ship Management
The flagship platform. Crewing, payroll, accounts, purchase, technical and PMS, HSSE, drydock and owner reporting in one multi-tenant system — with separate portals for the office, the vessel and the owner.
In productionPSC Readiness
Port State Control inspection readiness built from 144+ real PSCO findings across 10+ MOU regions. Live superintendent monitoring, CIC campaign alerts, offline-capable on ship internet.
In productionRightShip RISQ Readiness
Complete RISQ 3.2 preparation across all 588 questions, with AI-assisted readiness review, superintendent pre-inspection mode, corrective action plans and fleet-wide analytics.
In productionBHS Wellbeing
Crew wellbeing monitoring for shipowners and managers — periodic check-ins that surface welfare trends across a fleet without exposing any individual seafarer's answers.
Pre-launchWho we work with
The managers we suit best.
We suit managers who want crewing, payroll, accounts, purchase and technical working off the same records rather than four systems that do not speak to each other — and who would rather deal directly with the people building the software than through an account manager.
We take on a limited number of implementations at a time. Migrating live crew records and a working set of accounts is not work that benefits from being run alongside three others.
The ship management platform
One system for the whole management company.
BHS Ship Management replaces the collection of spreadsheets, legacy databases and disconnected tools that most management offices run on. It is a single multi-tenant platform covering every department, with the vessel and the owner given their own controlled access rather than being emailed reports.
👥 Crewing & recruitment
Seafarer database, manning planner and vessel manning tables, crew change planning, appraisals, CV import, and a public application portal that lets seafarers apply directly to your fleet. Proposals and shortlisting run through the same records that later become the employment contract.
💷 Payroll & collective agreements
Wage scales driven by a collective bargaining agreement library, seafarer contracts, monthly payroll runs, and vessel-side payroll access. Payroll is tied to the general ledger through a controlled monthly voucher rather than writing to the books directly — so the accounts stay auditable.
📊 Accounts & finance
A full double-entry accounting system, not a bookkeeping add-on: chart of accounts, trial balance, journal, receipt and payment vouchers, accounts receivable, vendor advances, bank accounts with statement import and reconciliation, budgets and variance, multi-currency with managed FX rates, analysis codes for cost dimensions, owner statements of account, and year-end handling.
📦 Purchase & supply
Requisition through to payment: vessel requisitions, request for quotation including a vendor-facing portal that needs no vendor login, purchase orders, goods receipt, invoice matching, accounts-payable ageing, payment advice, a vendor register with bulk import, and budget control at the point of ordering.
🔧 Technical & planned maintenance
Equipment register, planned maintenance due lists, defect tracking, spares, superintendent inspections, technical projects, and searchable safety management system documentation. Defects raised on inspection carry through to maintenance and, where deferred, into the drydock scope.
🛡️ HSSE & quality
Safety event reporting and investigation, an evidence registry, and framework-based assessments mapped to industry regimes including TMSA and Dry BMS — so an audit response is assembled from evidence already in the system rather than gathered under time pressure.
🏗️ Drydock
Drydock project scoping and tracking, fed by deferred defects from the technical module so the docking list reflects what the fleet actually deferred through the year.
🔑 Owner & vessel portals
Owners and principals get their own login, dashboard and vessel views with their own user administration — visibility into their vessels without access to the manager's other clients. Vessels get a separate portal for crew and payroll. Both are governed by the same tenant isolation as the main application.
How it is delivered
Cloud-hosted, tenant-isolated, access-controlled.
Multi-tenant isolation
Every record carries its owning tenant. A management company's data — and each of its principals' data — is separated at the data layer, not by a filter in the user interface.
Role and department access
Access is granted by role and by department, so the crewing team, the technical superintendents and the accounts department each see the part of the system they are responsible for.
Audit trail
User activity is logged, and financial postings are append-only — corrections are made by reversing entries, never by editing history. That is what makes the books defensible to an auditor.
Works on ship internet
The inspection applications are progressive web apps that run offline and synchronise when the vessel regains signal — because a checklist that needs bandwidth is a checklist that does not get filled in.
Cloud infrastructure
Managed cloud hosting on PostgreSQL, with the application and database run as separate managed services. No hardware, no installation and no IT project on the customer's side.
Data migration built in
Import tooling for chart of accounts, opening balances, vendors, crew records, budgets and technical data — so a move from an existing system starts with your history, not a blank database.
Confidentiality
Your commercial data stays yours.
Ship management data is commercially sensitive — crew costs, owner accounts, vendor terms, inspection history. Any manager evaluating a supplier is entitled to know exactly how that information will be handled. Our commitments are these:
- Isolated at the data layer. Every record carries its owning tenant. One client's data is not visible to another through any screen, report or export — the separation is in the database, not in the user interface.
- Never reused. Your data is never used to seed, populate or demonstrate the platform to anyone else, and never shared with another client, another manager or an owner outside your own group.
- Your records, on request. Your data remains yours. We will export it in full and delete it on termination if you ask us to.
Working with us
What engagement looks like.
- Demonstration. A working walkthrough of the live platform against your own operating questions — not a slide deck.
- Scoping. We agree which modules you need at the start. Departments can be brought on in sequence rather than all at once.
- Migration. Your existing chart of accounts, vendors, crew records and opening balances are imported and reconciled before go-live.
- Go-live by department. Each module is proven with your own data before the next is switched on, so the office is never running blind.
- Support direct from the builder. You raise an issue with the person who wrote the system. There is no first-line queue between you and a fix.
Commercial model. Ship Management is licensed as a per-vessel annual subscription, quoted against fleet size and the modules in scope. The PSC and RightShip products are priced openly on our website at $499 per vessel per year, with a free tier to evaluate them. A written quotation covering scope, per-vessel pricing and the implementation plan is issued for management review on request.
Contact
Speak to the founder directly.
This profile may be shared with your management or technical committee. For a formal proposal — scope, per-vessel pricing, implementation plan and timeline — contact us and we will issue one in writing.
The next step is a half-hour call.
Bring the questions your committee will ask. We will answer them against the live system rather than a presentation, and follow up in writing with scope, pricing and an implementation timeline for your fleet.
